And smothered it in lights and silver tears

The Pop View mp3 blog is well researched. Lots of Christmas tunes - unusual ones. Puts tunes at bottom of article to download. Found while listening to The Hype Machine.
Read this excerpt..
"For more than 20 years now, I’ve been collecting holiday music, mostly Christmas songs. One of the reasons I restarted this site as a blog was to have a huge outlet for my collection. For about five minutes, late in 2004, I thought I might get it up in time for Xmas, but it took me until July of this year to get started. As you might imagine, I am raring to go.
I do not claim to have the largest collection of holiday music. Or anywhere near the best. But I am the motherfucker with the website and the will to dominate. My plan is to totally kick ass on posting Christmas MP3s right here. In addition, Hanukkah begins at sundown on December 25, so we’ll be doing something for the Chosen People too.."

There are mixes and tunes with good stories too...

    How Nintendo Revolution Works

It says here that it's going to revolutionise the controller, not so much the machine. The controller looks like a white TV-remote. Gyroscopes inside will detect any movements you make. Read this excerpt to understand.....

"The key to Nintendo's new game interface lies inside the controller. Instead of using a joystick to control the game, the primary control is the controller itself. The controller contains solid-state accelerometers and gyroscopes that let it sense:

Tilting and rotation up and down
Tilting and rotation left and right
Rotation along the main axis (as with a screwdriver)
    Acceleration up and down
    Acceleration left and right
Acceleration toward the screen and away."(Read On)

For Crying out Load (That's Loud!)

Listen to Stacs of Stamina here on the werk website.
Euro-Crunk? That's the name of their style.......first heard them last night listening to Huw Stephens on John Peel's old slot on Radio 1.
Rap, British, serious, x-rated but...like....electronic ...you know...um...grimestep is it???Dubstep?????????????? Dirty sparse broke beat........catchy kinda harmonizing chorus too.

Bio below copied from zucchini drive.
"This Swedish group evolved from making dark hiphop to more up-tempo electronica. The new Stacs album “Tivoli” drops this fall on London-based label Werk, accompanied by a 12” and a remix-EP. Stacs of Stamina already worked a.o. Mike Ladd, Busdriver, Yara Bravo, TTC, Modeselektor, and dDamage."

    At Least One

"At least one" is a mathematical term meaning one or more. It is commonly used in situations where existence can be established but it is not known how to determine the total number of solutions.
One of the three jokes known to Christopher, the protagonist in the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, concerns the preciseness with which mathematicians apply the term "at least one." As told by Christopher (Haddon 2003, p. 142), the joke runs as follows. "There are three men on a train. One of them is an economist and one of them is a logician and one of them is a mathematician. And they have just crossed the border into Scotland (I don't know why they are going to Scotland) and they see a brown cow standing in a field from the window of the train (and the cow is standing parallel to the train). And the economist says, 'Look, the cows in Scotland are brown.' And the logician says, 'No. There are cows in Scotland of which at least one is brown.' And the mathematician says, 'No. There is at least one cow in Scotland, of which one side appears to be brown.' And this is funny because economists are not real scientists and because logicians think more clearly, but mathematicians are best."

Is it weird in here, or is it just me?

Crazy one liners by the genius below.
Steven Wright one liners - loads!

    Such as...

The other day, I was walking my dog around my building... on
the ledge. Some people are afraid of heights. Not me, I'm
    afraid of widths.

When I was five years old I was on a merry go round. There was
a gunshot nearby. The horses stampeded. There I was running
down the street on a purple wooden horse.

I can levitate birds. No one cares.

It doesn't matter what temperature the room is, it's always room
    temperature.

Let's put a pocket on it!

    AL Jackson...what a drummer!
    Booker T. & the MGs
    Greatest band of all time?

    Drummer: Al Jackson, Jr
    bio
    interview
    discography

".....Al was the son of big band leader Al Jackson, Sr. He began playing drums on stage with his father's band at the age of five. After playing with Willie Mitchell's band, he was recruited by Booker T. Jones in 1962 to play his first session at Stax. As guitarist Steve Cropper relates in the following interview, "It didn't take but about one or two sessions for everybody to realize the potential of Al Jackson and how good he was."
Al was a few years older than the other members of the Stax session team Steve Cropper (guitar), Duck Dunn (bass, who replaced Lewis Steinberg) and Booker T. Jones (keyboards, sometimes replaced by Isaac Hayes when schoolwork called). The younger players respected his experience and looked up to him. They relied on him to "put a pocket on it," as he called it-find the appropriate groove that would transform a good song into a great song, one that would also become a dance hit. This he did with a regularity that has yet to be surpassed.
His style was powerful, groove-oriented and deceptively simple. Many have imitated his playing but few have captured its strength and feel. For the better part of 10 years he came to work everyday cranking out solid, creative grooves. His drumming became easily recognizable and an integral part of '60s and '70s soul.
Al Jackson was tragically murdered in 1975, at age 39. His long time partner at Stax, Steve Cropper, graciously consented to do the following interview about Al so that the public can learn more about the life and spirit of this great drummer." Interview

    Never Cold Call

    Good read.
"I didn't make real money in sales - I'm talking five figures per month - until I quit my last job and set up an independent sales agency. I eliminated competition by representing EVERY provider in my industry, I gained some tax advantages by becoming self-employed, and I had a new level of freedom to do the things that actually made me money instead of making 50 cold calls every day just to appease some dictator sales manager. If you've been backed into a corner by stupid rules and regulations that prevent you from making money, you should seriously consider it too."

This work consisted of an interaction of many new ideas and sounds, whereby the connection is to be particularly emphasized saxophone of the employment of ' Monkey Say, Monkey DO ' with the Steel town center bleeps and Gospel Vocals. The crucial Kick however, which should reflect the attitude of this music from now on, brought with security Steve Bicknells mixture dull/musty, rolling Subbaesse with crack-ends Breakbeats, under from merciless Synthie attacks. With the constantly increasing number of the Piratensender in London and developing new clubs and labels, the basis of this new music form was created.Although the labels Mendoza and Reinforced, which were created in the spring 1990, predicted their own way to this music with their releases, this music form to at the end of of 1991 still ' bake tons bake ' with others Dance music styles played. But changed soon: The speed took too and thus became the break of the origins - (Acid)House - more visibly, likewise the individual Styles of the individual producers.Fresh wind and an important cut brought then release to ' Psychotronic EP ' from ' Earth Leakage Trip ' on that straight created label Moving Shadow and those increasingly on the Dancefloor cut publications, which were certain primarily by the labels Sub cousin, Ibiza and sound OF The Underground.Nebula II's ' Flatliners ' embodied the ' Darkside ' sound of 92/93. Threatening and dark sounds, inspired by Belgian Techno, worked together with the Groove.Likewise involved in the evolution this Styles in the ' Dark & Moody ' region was also Leeroy Smalls label ' formation ' from Leicester. The speed of the Beats continued to increase - bpm (beats by minute) increased from the region by 140 on up to 170!In place of dark elements more and more became hochgepitchte Sprachsamples as well as so-called ' barrier OF sound ' - Synthieakkorde into the ever faster becoming music integrates. A critical point in the development of Breakbeat was reached. Because many designated this music as Mickey Mouse sound and prophesied the imminent end of the category.Goldies ' terminator ' and a Whitelabel with the stamp ' TIC TAC Toe ' finally brought the very dynamic and completely overturned Underground on a new level: The white pressing impressed ripe one and Goldies dagewesenen yet with work convinced by technical finesse.Goldies work with the label Reinforced and surely also its legendary personality and enthusiasm always trend-setting for D'n'B made it the public sign of the music. He was finally also a first producer, who was gesignt with major (London record).1993 created LTJ Bukem its label Good Looking record. From there there was a Split in the music. Even if most accept ' Music ' are the pion he work of the more more musical form of the D'n'B, then were nevertheless LTJ's earlier works ' Demon's Theme ' and ' Atlantis ', which formed the platform for what later ' Ambient ' or ' intelligent ' Drum'n'Bass should be called. For which however Bukem had carried pioneer work out, was however neither ' ambient ' nor ' intelligently ', but rather one structured more Herangehensweise to the production, with which less attention perkussiven than many more one dedicated to the atmospheric elements. This again-defined ripe one particularly expressed itself by the work of Rupert park (alias Photek). In 1994 became of course on ' Good Looking ' as well as ' Certificate 18 ' works of it released, but particularly its publications on its own label ' Photek record ' proved a raid into before still unknown terrain. Its plates were different than all so far there been in this category: Sub orbital atmospheres imprisoned in the claws of parks inimitable Beats and frames from meagerly sown pulsating basses.1994 were also the year of the first Longplayer. To be called must here 4 Hero's ' parallel university verses ': An abstract double album, on which Vocals and the first unification were to be heard of jazz with Drum'n'Bass. Marks of Mac and Degos technical Skills made most speechless: 70 minutes full-packed with more were at all used fresh BREAK than in the preceded 6 months, as well as new production engineering e.g. a filtering - an element of Beat programming from then on any longer which can not be excluded. This recent discovery and integration of the jazz rang a turning point. From now on jazz elements in a set of publications emerged. Perhaps at the most remarkable with the ' Icons ' project of Blame & Justice on Justice label ' decaying Urban jazz ', as well as on D*Note's ' Criminal Justice ' Longplayer. The city Bristol and the Bristol Style born there impressed the Jungle scene at this time with the ' Full Cycle ' label. Together with Bryan Gee's Londoner label ' V Recordings ' published it a tide from works. Artists such as Roni Size, Krust, which, Flynn & Flora and Bill Riley had thus been able to create a forum, on that them jazz, Dub and in a completely new way could present Smokey Trip Hop of elements.1995 were the year of the ' Techstep '. Even if the term were taken over by the Compilation LP of East London of the label ' Emotif ', it is all-side well-known that DJ trace, Nico could celebrate with NO u-turn, as well as Grooverider with its label prototype with new sounds a Revival of the Darkside come into oblivion! Release such as Blame's ' planet Neptune'und SOURCE Direct's ' Snake Style ' - even if latter more were based on the technological side of the movement - affected the direction of the Techsteps and the careers of some artists 2 years later. In 1997 several development trends in the now world-wide propagation of Drum'n'Bass were recognizable. A second wave of the Majorsignings fallow on and LP's of DJ Krust, 4 Hero, Adam F, Goldie, SOURCE Direct and Dillinja were expected, during fresh Longplayer appeared e.g. Photek's ' mode Operandi ', as well as the Full Cycle crew Reprazent with Lobeshymnen ueberschuettet became. The latters won 1997 also the prestigious Mercury Music Award.Auf of the other side were labels, as for example James Lavelle's ' Mo'Wax ', strongly to it interest D'n'B producer in the instrumentelen Hip Hop range to merge and turned around. While many presented the Produzenten/DJ's in the USA as well as in Japan, gesignten by major labels, humans their music, ever more club and Piratensender were those, ' who spread the word ' in England.Starting from 1998 Drum'n'Bass was regarded further as its own music. 4Hero's ' 2Pages ' showed the world exactly, where this Bedroom producer developed: Musician without rules. From all large names albums were announced or published. All signed either with a major or on their own label sufficient financial security attained - indications of how strong the market had become in the meantime. As independent category Drum'n'Bass stays further completely at the point of the technical and production-referred innovation, while the constant dynamics of the music and scene secure your longevity and stability"....

    Chessie - "Overnight"

From DJ Martian Archive - Sunday, September 30, 2001

"I received this info from an IDM discussion group on Yahoo Groups. Chessie - I received this info from an IDM discussion group on Yahoo Groups. Chessie - Overnight will be released on Plug Research on November 14th.

Comparisons to such disparate artists as My Bloody Valentine, Laika and Aphex Twin are all equally valid and give some idea of the wide-ranging influences at work on the Chessie sound

    RELEASE INFO CHESSIE 'OVERNIGHT'

    Artist: Chessie
    Title: Overnight
    Format: CD / 2xLP
Label: Plug Research (CD), 2.nd rec (LP)
    Cat. Nr.: PR 31 / 2-nd 004
    Distribution: EFA
    Release Date: 14.11.2001

    Tracks:
Electro-Motive, Daylight, K-Tower, Lineside, Pantograph Up, Cross
Harbor Interchange, Northern Native Junction, S To U, Eyes And Smiles

    - "Overnight" is a ghostly meditation on the aesthetics of late night
    train travel.

    - One of the first projects to combine post-rock and experimental
    electronic music.

    - A swirling, indistinct realm of sonic abstraction with influences
ranging from the Beach Boys to My Bloody Valentine and Satie.

    - 3rd album by an artist who combines live instruments, found sounds,
    and non-sequenced electronics.

Somewhere between asleep and awake there is a suspended dream state
where sounds float and pulsate, where you can no longer trust your
senses. Chessie is the soundtrack to this special place.

Over the course of three albums, Chessie's Stephen Gardner has
plumbed a swirling, indistinct realm of sonic abstraction. Inspired
by the sounds of railways, his work has blended electro-acoustic
    production
techniques, live playing and non-sequenced electronics in an effort
to capture the spirit and emotion of rail
travel. The propulsive, inexorable clank of steel on track forms the
    rhythmic backbone of the Chessie
compositions, and makes a particularly American counterpart to the
motorik rhythms of much post-Kraftwerk music.

Begun in 1993 as a solo project, Gardner released two brilliant and
highly acclaimed albums of Oakland, CA's Drop Beat: "Signal Series"
in 1997 and "Meet" in 1999. Sparked by a love of chance composition
and avant garde rock and electronica, these seminal albums combined
acoustic instrumentation and processed found sounds and beats in an
entirely unique and seamless way. Comparisons to such disparate
artists as My Bloody Valentine, Laika and Aphex Twin are all equally
valid and give some idea of the wide-ranging influences at work on
    the Chessie sound.

During the production of "Meet", Gardner began working with Ben
Bailes, and it is this very fruitful partnership that brings us
"Overnight." The nine songs on "Overnight" are a deliberate
meditation on the aesthetics of late night travel, and especially
travel by train. Tracks like "Cross Harbor Interchange" and
"Daylight" are positively mesmerizing with circular rhythms, graceful
strums of melodic guitar and pulsing, gated blasts of steam-like
noise. More abstract cuts like "Electromotive" are tone poems
    constructed from samples and
displaced, skeletal sounds. The overall effect is ghostly and
penumbral, redolent of echoey tunnels and that last bit of darkness
    just before the sun rises.

    CHESSIE BIO

Begun in 1993 as the project of Stephen Gardner from Arlington, VA,
    Chessie explores the physical,
emotional, and aesthetic aspects of railways through sound. Gardner,
who has worked for and traveled extensively on railways, processes
his railroad experiences through various Electro-acoustic production
methods including analog tape techniques, acoustic instruments, and
sequencer-less recordings. Following two full length LP/CD's (Drop
Beat's 1997's "Signal Series" and 1999's "Meet") and various singles,
Gardner was joined full-time by Ben Bailes, a sound engineer and
producer based in New York City, who has been listening intently to
the world around him for as long as he can remember. The two started
collaborating in 1998 while Gardner was recording "Meet", and came to
enjoy working as a duo. In the summer of 2000, Gardner and Bailes
began writing and recording "Overnight", a new LP/CD that features 9
compositions dedicated to railways and train travel throughout the
    night."

Top Ten album Lists so far 2005

    From Basement galaxy
"The Best Albums of the Year So Far:
    LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem

    Behemoth –Demigod
Straddling the line between death metal and black metal, the Polish band’s latest album is an impeccably-produced blend of the brutal and the accessible. Epic in every sense of the word.

    Bloc Party – Silent Alarm
As this British band built strong word of mouth last year, comparisons to Franz Ferdinand were flying, but as this startlingly assured, musically rich debut CD proves, they couldn’t be more different.

Clutch – Robot Hive / Exodus
After years of releasing good, but uneven albums of Southern-tinged stoner rock, Clutch finally nailed it, with a groove-laced record that remains loyal to their trademark sound, yet still is daring enough to try new things.

    Fischerspooner – Odyssey
I was ready to write this duo off, but they returned with a stunner of a second album that caught me completely off-guard, one that trounces their debut, eschewing arty pretension in favour of pop hooks.

    M.I.A. – Arular
The most highly anticipated debut album of 2005 did not disappoint, as Maya proves she’s not a lame hip hop gimmick by putting together a minimal, yet multilayered disc that is every bit as catchy as it is enigmatic.

Okkervil River – Black Sheep Boy
I had no idea who this Austin band was before this year, but this darkly ambitious album of Southern gothic-tinged country, rock, and folk shook me, thanks to the chilling singing and songwriting talents of Will Sheff.

    Primordial – The Gathering Wilderness
In which the Irish metal band delve deep into pagan mythology, the history of their homeland, and Celtic folk music, creating an emotional, pulverizing, remarkably melodic opus that defies categorization.

System of a Down – Mesmerize
The first half of an intended double album, this CD continues the astonishing progression of metal’s most wildly creative bands. If Hypnotize is as good as Mezmerize (I expect it to be even better), I predict it will be a lock for my album(s) of the year.

    Torche - Torche
While sludge and stoner bands continue to churn out the same old recycled, turgid sounds, Miami’s Torche have dared to do something different, throwing in layered vocal melodies that perfectly offset the huge riffs, and the idea works brilliantly.

    Turbonegro – Party Animals
The latest album by the Norwegian deathpunk legends continues their incredible streak of superior releases, this time returning to the simple, pop-fueled rifferama of Apocalypse Dudes, making this their best record in seven years.

Ten other albums that are definitely worth mentioning, in alphabetical order: Candlemass - Candlemass, Caribou – The Milk of Human Kindness, Corrosion of Conformity - In the Arms of God, Dalek – Absence, Damon & Naomi – The Earth is Blue, Doves - Some Cities, Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked, Maximo Park - A Certain Trigger, The Raveonettes - Pretty in Black, Teenage Fanclub – Man-Made

And for good measure, here are ten more metal albums that are too great to ignore, again, in alphabetical order: Brand New Sin – Recipe For Disaster, Cursed – Two, Dew-Scented - Issue VI, Fantomas – Suspended Animation, Hate Eternal - I, Monarch, High on Fire – Blessed Black Wings, . Jesu - Jesu, Judas Priest – Angel of Retribution, Napalm Death – The Code is Red…Long Live the Code, Strapping Young Lad – Alien

So why didn’t I mention The New Pornographers’ Twin Cinema? Well, it’s not out for another seven weeks, so why not be fair to the stuff that’s already out, right? (but yeah, it would have made this top ten if I had included it) "
